Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. She served on an advisory panel during the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. The reporting she did included plenty of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra scandal, the budget and tax reform, as well as the arms control. She traveled widely along with President Reagan during summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
